Our Trip

We had so much fun visiting one of my dearest friends. The drive was seven hours long, but the kids were troopers. We did it without radio, TV, or anything. I listened to a book on tape and the boys were content to either sleep, play quietly with toys, or watch the cars go by. They are AWESOME! Sam cried for maybe 45 min towards the end. We were so close I just couldn't stop. Our first day, we went to the zoo and saw insects and spiders, prairie dogs,
and turtles.
Jackson LOVED the mini train that went around the park. Unfortunately it was 4 bucks for a two minute ride so we contented ourselves to just watching. He really is a train enthusiast: Polar Express, documentaries, toys, books. He loves them. But he's not so much a fan of Thomas the Train. I digress.
We watched Toy Story 2 on their projector and Jackson was beside himself as he saw a life-size Buzz blast onto the screen. It didn't take him very long to realize that projectors are awesome and tiny computer screens are not as awesome. He certainly got a healthy dose of Pixar while we were there, mostly the movies we don't have. Sam enjoyed watching the flashing lights as well. He really liked the bumbo (sitting device) that another dear friend let us borrow. It was what Sam has always wanted, but didn't know it. He was craning his head around to see something. That's why he looks so awkward. He LOVES looking around and wishes he could crawl. He's always wanting to be up and doing. He's got a strong frame and only sits with much coaxing.

Jackson thoroughly explored their house and got stuck here at least five times:
and here:

We went on walks with B and K and let Jackson run around on my old elementary school playground. I remember it being a lot bigger.

Jackson learned the value of an inner tube in the pool and had a lot of fun watching the other crazy kid go down the freezing waterslide during the pool party.
We just had so much fun.
We certainly missed Daddy and he missed us! Life is hard without your other half!
Thanks so much for the fun! Already planning the sequel.
